If the animal needs to be medicated there is additional charge. Written proof of vaccinations is required. We feel very blessed to be a small shelter because it gives us. Dogs must have current rabies, DHLPP and Bordetella vaccinations. Stein Animal Shelter has a limited number of cages available to the residents of Canton for boarding. Found dogs are posted on our facebook page. If we find an animal and we are unable to locate the owner, or the owner does not claim it in 10 days, the dog/cat will make a trip to the vet and then become available for adoption. If your dog is missing please call us at 78 as soon as possible. It is our goal to get every lost animal back to his/her family quickly and safely.

If we find a dog and it is wearing a license tag we will notify the owner as soon as possible. If you have any questions you can call our office at (781)575-6507 or the Town Clerk’s office at (781)821-5013. Please license your dog in a timely manner to avoid these extra fees. Per Mass General Law and Town of Canton by-laws there is a $50 fine for failure to license a dog. For more information please contact the Town Clerk’s office at (781)821-5013. Dog licenses expire on April 1st and licenses are available for renewal on January 1st each year. All dogs 6 months or older are required to be licensed.

The Shelter has NO PAID STAFF and relies completely on our volunteers and the community for. License fees are $15 for dogs that have been spayed / neutered, $20 for dogs that have not been spayed / neutered. The Quincy Animal Shelter is a 100 volunteer-run organization. To obtain a license, proof of up to date rabies vaccination must be shown. License InformationĢ022 dog licenses are now available! Licenses are issued by the Town Clerk at the Town Hall. Weekend and holiday visits are only available by appointment. If you’re interested in coming in to see our adoptable animals or to speak to the Animal Control Officer it is best to call first. You will also give a new life to a pet that could’ve been euthanized. By adopting one of the pets from a shelter in Quincy, you will help make space for more abandoned pets in the shelters. The officer may be out on a call or transporting an animal to/from the vet. The pets that are found on roads are rescued by animal shelters, which are then put up for adoption. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 6 pm, however, this does not mean the Officer is always physically at the shelter during those hours. The Animal Control Department encourages visitors to our shelter.
